Lloyd’s Register Energy Wins Two Major Nuclear Contracts

15 Aug (NucNet): Lloyd’s Register Energy, a global engineering, technical and business services organisation, has won two nuclear contracts which will see the it supporting the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP) in South Korea as an independent Technical Safety Organisation (TSO).

Lloyd’s Register Energy will team up with the US company Lightbridge Corporation to support the FANR on project management, construction inspection and oversight services for the UAE’s nuclear power programme.

The activities include verification, inspection plans, quality assurance, and vendor inspections during construction, installation and commissioning.

Lloyd’s Register Energy will also support South Korea’s KHNP with independent verification services to assess their nuclear safety equipment.

Lloyd’s Register Energy is also the only third-party inspection agency able to certify to the Korea Electric Power Industry Code (Kepic) Nuclear Structure code and is approved to certify to the Kepic Nuclear Mechanical Components code.
