22 Aug (NucNet): The pressure testing of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) for China’s Tianwan-3 VVER-1000 nuclear unit under construction in Jiangsu province, has been completed by Russia’s Izhorskiye Zavody, the company has said.
The testing was conducted on a special stand and proved the durability of the RPV and its welded parts.
Izhorskiye Zavody also said it is preparing the final assembly of the RPV with the internal components and the RPV cover before the components will be delivered to the site.
There are four Russian-design VVER-1000 nuclear units at Tianwan - two commercially operational and two under construction.
