25 Aug (NucNet): Japan’s Sendai-1 nuclear unit is planned to increase power from 75 to 95 percent on 27 August after it has resolved an issue with a condensate pump in the secondary, non-nuclear side of the unit indicating seawater in the condenser, operator Kyushu Electric Company said. The problem was identified and resolved. The unit’s power turbine will undergo a regulatory inspection on 26 August to determine whether there was any problem due to the condenser pump issue. After this inspection, the power increase can go on. On 10 August 2015, Sendai-1 became the first nuclear unit to restart in Japan after all units had been shut down for safety checks and upgrades following the Fukushima-Daiichi accident.
