18 May (NucNet): There are 441 commercially operational nuclear reactors in 30 countries with a total net capacity of 382,855 MW, the International Atomic Energy Agency says in the latest edition of Nuclear Power Reactors in the World. The number of countries does not include Taiwan, but the number of reactors listed does include Taiwan’s six commercial units. The report says there are 67 units under construction that will add 66,428 MW of net capacity. Twenty-four of the units under construction are in China. The information in the report is a product of the IAEA’s Power Reactor Information System (PRIS), a comprehensive source of data on all nuclear power reactors.
