20 Sep (NucNet): Areva Dongfang, a joint venture of France’s Areva group and China’s Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC), is to supply 18 reactor coolant pumps to the China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC).
Areva said today that, during a visit to China by Areva’s chief executive officer Anne Lauvergeon, Areva Dongfang announced it had received a letter of intent to supply the reactor coolant pumps for second generation 1,000-megawatt pressurised water reactor units planned in the Fujian and Liaoning provinces.
The first part of the contract, worth a total of more than 100 million euro (140 million US dollars), is expected to be signed by the end of 2007. Areva said manufacturing is scheduled to start in 2008, for staggered delivery between 2010 and 2012.
