25 Jul (NucNet): EDF Energy and four major trade unions have concluded negotiations on a comprehensive package of collective agreements for workers involved in building the proposed new Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in Somerset, EDF Energy said.

The agreements set the project’s policies and culture for “effective collaboration”, including EDF Energy management, contractors, unions and the general workforce, EDF Energy said.

The agreements cover the entire workforce from construction workers to supervisors, bus drivers to catering and cleaning staff. EDF Energy said the agreements are for not just pay and productivity, but also industrial relations, recruitment, training, health and welfare, as well as skills development and workforce communications.

The unions involved in the negotiations were the general workers’ union GMB, the professional workers’ union Prospect, the construction workers’ union UCATT and the industrial workers’ union Unite.
