16 Jul (NucNet): After the tender process for new reactors at Temelín was cancelled last year, Czech utility and nuclear operator ČEZ is starting “a broad discussion” with the government on when and where to build new units, ČEZ’s director of nuclear power plant construction said.

In an interview with NucNet Petr Zavodsky said development of the Temelín project is continuing. In October 2014, ČEZ received a siting permit from state nuclear regulator SÚJB.

He spoke about the status of the project and also about plans for possible nuclear new-build at the country’s other nuclear site, Dukovany.

Mr Zavodsky spoke about lifetime extensions and upgrades for the Czech fleet of six commercial reactors, and about the possible impact on new-build plans of the European Commission’s decision in October 2014 to allow state aid for the UK’s Hinkley Point C.
