22 Aug (NucNet): The Changjiang-2 nuclear unit in Hainan province, southern China, has entered commercial operation, plant constructor China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Company said. The company said the 610-MW domestically designed CNP-600 pressurised water reactor unit began commercial operation at 17:00 local time on 12 August after being connected to the grid on 20 June. The Changjiang nuclear power station now has both its units in commercial operation. Changjiang-1, also of the domestic CNP-600 design, was connected to the grid in November 2015 and began commercial operation in December 2015.
