6 Dec (NucNet): UK-based engineering and project management company AMEC has been awarded one of three contracts by Horizon Nuclear Power to provide engineering and technical design services for proposed nuclear power stations at Wylfa in north Wales and Oldbury in Gloucestershire.

Under the three-year contract, the value of which was not announced, AMEC will provide Horizon with environmental consultancy and technical services to help with the permitting, licensing and regulatory consents process for the proposed reactors at Wylfa and Oldbury.

Earlier this week the UK government said it had agreed to provide a loan guarantee to Japan’s Hitachi, which owns Horizon Nuclear Power, to help it finance a new nuclear power station at Wylfa.
