5 Sep (NucNet): EDF Energy expects to restart its two-unit Heysham A and Hartlepool gas-cooled reactor stations in phases between the end of October and the end of December, the UK company said.

On 11 August 2014, EDF Energy said it had decided to close four reactors at Heysham A and Hartlepool after it discovered a crack on a boiler spine at Heysham A-1. The Hartlepool plant has the same boiler design as the Heysham A units.

“Engineers have recently been able to begin their inspections and the first two inspections have been completed. The engineers found no defects on these spines,” EDF Energy said.
