Ensreg Begins Consultation On EU Ageing Management Reports

16 Jan (NucNet): The European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (Ensreg) has begun a consultation process until the end of February 2018 on national reports from EU member states concerning the ageing management of nuclear plants.

The reports have been submitted as required by the EU’s Nuclear Safety Directive, which requires member states to undertake, every six years, national assessments on a specific topic related to nuclear safety. This is followed by a peer review of the national reports by other member states, with the European Commission as an observer.

Ensreg has set up a website for comments from the general public and a separate website for comments related to the peer reviews.

All 16 EU states with operating nuclear plants have submitted reports along with Switzerland, Norway and Ukraine.

A peer review meeting will be held from 14-18 May 2018 for experts to evaluate the reports.
