French advanced nuclear reactor developer Stellaria has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop an integrated energy hub, marking what it said is another step towards its aim of deploying a sovereign French energy infrastructure for electricity and industry.

The MOU, signed with Unitel Group and Energie Hub, is for the progressive deployment of several Stellarium nuclear units in the Fos-sur-Mer area of southern France.

Unite group is an AI, digital infrastructure and technology company. It formed the Energie Hub consortium for the development, financing, construction and operation of strategic energy infrastructure.

Stellaria said the phased approach to deploying its reactors in Fos-Sur-Mer This will allow each stage of the project to be validated while ensuring safety and industrial control.

It said the units will supply low-carbon electricity, industrial heat, and grid flexibility and support services for the Fos-sur-Mer area.

The MOU includes the development of an AI-powered digital energy management platform that will optimise energy production and consumption, manage networks in real time, oversee storage capacity and anticipate industrial demand.

It also covers the structuring of the project’s financing, preparations for creating a dedicated entity for project development and operation, and the establishment of a strategic partnership between the three companies.

Earlier this year Stellaria and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) signed a letter of intent (LOI) for a feasibility study into the construction of key Stellaria testing facilities at CEA’s Cadarache site.

Stellaria said the signing of the LOI lays the foundations for critical experiments, scheduled for 2030, using the Alvin prototype plant. The Alvin experiments will allow Stellaria to validate its modelling and calculations.

Stellarium is a Generation IV molten salt design. Molten salt reactors are said to have advantages over more traditional water-cooled plants, including improved safety and higher efficiency. Inherent safety features include low-pressure operation, reduced waste and the use of standard low-enriched uranium fuel.

Stellaria raised €23m ($26.2m) in 2025 to support technical and regulatory studies and has previously signed a power pre-order agreement with data centre operator Equinix.

The company also received €10m in public funding under the federal France 2030 programme in 2024, supporting technical studies and regulatory preparation for its prototype reactor.

In February Stellaria submitted an application to the French authorities for the potential construction the Alvin prototype.
