16 Sep (NucNet): The supervisory board of Areva NP has announced two new management appointments that take effect from today.
Christian Hillrichs becomes the company’s new technical managing director and retains his responsibilities as head of the company’s ‘services Germany sector’.
Ralf Gueldner, previously technical managing director, has been appointed to the newly-created post of ‘management spokesperson’, “thereby continuing as a member of the management team”, Areva NP said. “The supervisory board’s decision to create this new management post reflects positive developments in terms of both business and human resources in recent years, as well as the significant increase in interest in nuclear power among politicians and the German media.”
Dr Gueldner will be responsible in particular for representing the company in relations with customers, trade associations and political parties. He will continue to be responsible for Areva NP’s global nuclear fuels business, which he has headed from his office in Paris as executive vice-president since November 2006.
Commercial managing director Ruediger Steuerlein will continue in his role with no change in responsibilities.
