21 Mar (NucNet): China has completed development and testing of a domestic nuclear fuel assembly design for use in pressurised water reactors, the China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC) said in a statement.

The statement said CNNC has independently developed the CF3 fuel, testing of which was recently completed at Unit 2 of the Qinshan nuclear power station.

CNNC said the test results have shown that the performance of the CF3 fuel assemblies meet international standards for fuel of similar types.

The company said successful testing has paved the way for large-scale domestic use of the new fuel, including in China-made Hualong One pressurised water reactor designs.
