Company Says Its SMRs Could Be In Operation In UK By 2029

Small nuclear reactors delivered in prefabricated sections on the back of vehicles and assembled cost effectively onsite could become a reality by 2029, according to Rolls-RoyceThe British company told the BBC that the small modular reactor consortium it leads is confident of rolling out its SMRs in the UK within the decade to address growing demand for electricity in a low-carbon setting.The consortium plans to install and operate such “factory-built power stations” capable of competing on price with low-cost renewables such as offshore wind.
