New firm wants overseas investors for projects in the Sulu archipelago
An energy company in the Philippines said nuclear power offers “a great opportunity” for isolated, off-grid areas of the country such as the Sulu archipelago, a chain of islands in the Pacific Ocean, about 1,500 km south of the capital Manila.Benjamin Loong, president of Sulu Sea Energy Resources Development Corporation told the Manila-based Business Daily newspaper that the company is considering nuclear for the area as it looks at expanding power sources for a region that is isolated from the mainland grid.
