Export Controls A Vexing Issue, Says CEO Prozesky
Peter Prozesky believes export controls can get in the way of WANO doing its job.
National export controls are “quite a vexing issue” for the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) because they hinder the organisation in clearing quite simple operational information which has got nothing to do with the terms of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, chief executive officer Peter Prozesky told NucNet.Mr Prozesky said controls can prevent WANO from sharing certain information with certain countries and “we believe it does get in the way of us doing our job”.He said WANO has continued, through dialogue with the Nuclear Suppliers Group, individual countries’ governments and civil service organisations who are advising governments, to try and make the case for WANO.
