The financial competitiveness of nuclear energy is “the biggest challenge” facing the industry in the US but a review of nuclear policy ordered by president Donald Trump has led to legislation that will help the US become globally competitive, a conference heard.Suzanne Jaworowski, a senior advisor on policy and communications at the US Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy, told the World Nuclear Association Symposium in London that the US is working hard to “recalibrate some of our financing tools so we can be competitive around the world”.
