12 Sep (NucNet): Finland utility Fennovoima Oy, which is planning to build a Russian VVER reactor unit at Hanhikivi, has appointed Toni Hemminki as chief executive officer, the company said.
Fennovoima’s outgoing CEO, Juhna Nurmi, will continue working for the company as an advisor.
Voimaosakeyhtiö SF, the majority owner of Fennovoima, has also appointed a new CEO, Elina Engman, who previously held the position of vice-president for business development at the company.
In March 2014, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom acquired a 34 percent stake in Fennovoima, with the remaining 66 percent remaining with Voimaosakeyhtiö SF.
Fennovoima is planning to build a 1,200-megawatt VVER reactor at the Hanhikivi site in western Finland. The unit is scheduled to start commercial operation in 2024.
