China has shipped the first batch of domestic-made CF3 nuclear fuel for use at the Fuqing nuclear power station, where the country’s first Hualong One (HPR1000) pressurised water reactor unit is approaching completion, the China National Nuclear Corporation said.Fuqing-5 is the first of two demonstration Generation III Hualong One units being built at the site in Fujian province, southeastern China. It is expected to begin commercial operation in 2019 or 2020.
