GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy has completed its work supporting the decommissioning of the two older units at OKG’s Oskarshamn nuclear power station in Sweden.

GEH said it had completed the segmentation of reactor internals at Oskarshamn-1.

The company’s work at the Oskarshamn site began in 2017 with the dismantling and segmentation of reactor internals of Oskarshamn-2.

Jay Wileman, GEH president and chief executive, said the project was completed on schedule and budget.

In October 2015, OKG’s shareholders voted to close both Oskarshamn-1 and -2 over concerns about their economic viability.

Unit 1 was permanently shut down in June 2017 and Unit 2 in December 2016.

The Oskarshamn site has one unit in commercial operation, the 1,400-MW Oskarshamn-3.
