The UK government has published a progress report on the national geological disposal programme for the period between April 2017 and April 2019.

The report is part of a commitment made in 2010 to produce an annual report to parliament on progress in the management of highly active radioactive waste.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), which prepared the report, said progress was made in three areas: developing land use planning processes; preparing to work with communities; and national geological screening.
