Country seeks to join four IAEA nuclear safety conventions
Uzbekistan’s government is working to improve the central Asian country’s regulatory framework covering radiation and nuclear safety by drawing on best practices from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Uzbekistan’s minister of energy Alisher Sultanov told a nuclear safety conference in Vienna.Mr Sultanov told the IAEA’s ‘Nuclear Security - Sustaining and Strengthening Efforts’ conference that a “crucial aspect” in developing nuclear infrastructure is the study of, and cooperation with, countries who have both developed or are developing nuclear capabilities.
