Nuclear generation capacity in the UK could reach almost 19 GW by 2050 – up from about 9-10 GW today – with the development of the country’s first small modular reactors and the potential use of nuclear energy to produce hydrogen by electrolysis, a report by grid operator National Grid ESO says.
