19 Apr (NucNet): Japan and Ukraine have reached an agreement to exchange information on the impact of the Fukushima-Daiichi and Chernobyl nuclear accidents.

They will share information on the impact of the accidents on human health and the environment, as well as on post-disaster measures, the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF) said in a statement.

Japan’s foreign minister Koichiro Gemba and Ukrainian emergency minister Viktor Baloga signed the agreement in Tokyo on Wednesday, JAIF said.

According to JAIF, the two countries will also organise exchange visits of researchers and engineers.

Negotiations for a nuclear safety deal between Ukraine and Japan began shortly after the March 2011 Fukushima-Daiichi accident, JAIF said.
