21 Sep (NucNet): The chief executive officer of the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant in Sweden, Patric Ramberg, is to be replaced by Lars Thuring.
Oskarshamn’s operator OKG said in a statement that Mr Ramberg will leave the company on 15 October 2007. Mr Thuring’s appointment was approved at a board meeting on 12 September 2007.
Mr Thuring has many years of experience in the Swedish nuclear industry. He joined OKG’s parent company E.ON from Stal-Laval 1989 and has among other positions been technical manager at the Barseback nuclear power plant, which has been shut down.
He has also been vice-chief executive officer for E.ON Nuclear in Sweden and chairman of the E.ON Nordic safety advisory board.
Sweden has 10 operational units which generated a combined 70 terawatt hours of electricity in 2005. In June 2006, an opinion poll showed that 85 percent of Swedes interviewed said they either wanted to keep the country’s existing operational units or build new ones.
