14 Sep (NucNet): The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has approved the transfer of the operating licence for the twin-unit Comanche Peak nuclear power plant from TXU Generation Company to new owner Luminant.
TXU submitted an application on 18 April 2007 asking for approval of the licence transfer. The transfer, which was effective from 10 September 2007, is the result of Texas Energy LP’s purchase of TXU Corp, which owns TXU Generation Company.
The NRC said the transfer will create an intermediate parent company, Luminant Holdco, between TXU Corp and TXU Generation, which will become Luminant Generation.
