11 Jan (NucNet): The In-Service Inspections team at the Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG), which operates the High Flux Reactor (HFR) at Petten in the Netherlands, has received an ISO/IEC 17025 certificate from the Accreditation Council in Arnhem.

NRG said in a statement that the quality and integrity accreditation is “the most important ISO standard for laboratory inspections”.

NRG said its In-Service Inspections team has 40 years’ experience carrying out inspections in nuclear reactors’ primary systems. Inspections are carried out on such things as steam generators, main cooling pumps, piping with weld seams and the containment building itself.

During inspections, inspection data is collected, evaluated and reported according to required guidelines. NRG said the accreditation was “internationally recognised proof” that it is allowed to carry out inspections.
