19 Aug (NucNet): Germany’s Nukem group (Nukem GmbH) has signed a contract to sell its Nukem Technologies subsidiary to Russian nuclear vendor Atomstroyexport.
The sale of Nukem Technologies, which operates worldwide in engineering, radwaste management and decommissioning, is expected to be completed by the end of 2009. Both sides have agreed not to disclose contract details.
Nukem GmbH said on 14 August 2009 that in future it would concentrate on its core business. Together with its US-based subsidiary, Nukem Inc, Nukem GmbH is a leading world provider of nuclear fuel services.
Nukem GmbH chief financial officer Dirk Martens said: “Atomstroyexport offers our colleagues in the engineering business the chance to further develop their activities and markets… jobs at Nukem Technologies are secured and can be expanded in connection with the global renaissance of nuclear energy.”
