8 May (NucNet): The dome has been installed on the containment building of Unit 6 at the Tianwan nuclear power station under construction in Jiangsu province, eastern China, a statement by Chinese National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said.

Construction of Tianwan-6 began in September 2016 with the pouring of first concrete.

The unit is a 1000-MW pressurised water reactor of the domestically developed CNP-1000 design. Another unit of the same design, Tianwan-5, is also under construction on the site.

Furthermore, there are four Russia-procured VVER-1000 nuclear units at Tianwan – two commercially operational and two under construction.
