Regulator Asks For Revised Safety Assessment For Vasteras Fuel Facility
Sweden’s nuclear regulator SSM said Westinghouse Electric must address a number of deficiencies that form part of a 10-year safety assessment of its nuclear fuel manufacturing facility in Vasteras.

SSM said it has reviewed a safety assessment, originally submitted by Westinghouse in 2017, and concluded that Westinghouse can continue to operate the Vasteras facility “provided that identified deficiencies are dealt with”.

However, SSM has asked Westinghouse to submit a new safety assessment by 1 July 2024. The regulator also asked for Westinghouse to submit a plan for how the deficiencies should be managed by 31 January 2020.
