The Rokkasho nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Aomori Prefecture, northeast Japan, has formally passed safety checks after the country’s nuclear regulator finalised a report saying the facility was compatible with regulatory standards introduced following the 2011 Fukushima-Daiichi accident.
