The reactor pressure vessel has been installed at the Shin-Kori-5 nuclear plant under construction near the southeastern city of Busan in South Korea, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power said.

Construction of the 1,340-MW APR1400 pressurised water reactor unit began in April 2017 and commercial operation is scheduled for early 2023.

Identical units, Shin-Kori-3 and Shin-Kori-4 began commercial operation in December 2016 and August 2019.

Construction of Shin-Kori-6 began in September 2018. There are also two older OPR1000 models at the site, Shin-Kori-1 and Shin-Kori-2.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency South Korea has 25 nuclear units in commercial operation, providing about 24% of its electricity share. There are four units under construction.
