Unit 2 of the Novovoronezh 2 nuclear power station in southwest Russia has successfully gone through one month of test operation at 100% of its design capacity, Rosenergoatom, the operating subsidiary of state nuclear corporation Rosatom, announced.
The test operation phase began on 31 July 2019 when the unit reached 100% capacity for the first time and was completed on 1 September 2019.

Rosenengoatom said the next step in the commissioning process at Novovoronezh 2-2 will include equipment acceptance testing for 15 days.
According to Rosenengoatom, this will be the last round of testing before commercial operation of the unit can begin, subject to regulatory approval.
Construction of Novovoronezh 2-2, a Generation III+ VVER-1200 unit, began in July 2009. It will be the third unit of its type to be completed in Russia.
The others were its sister unit, Novovoronezh 2-1, which began commercial operation in February 2017, and Leningrad 2-1, which began commercial operation in October 2018.
