Russia Signs Agreement To Supply Kozloduy Fuel Until 2025

Russia’s state-run nuclear fuel company and the Kozloduy nuclear power station in Bulgaria have signed contractual documents for supplies of Russian nuclear fuel up to and including 2025. Tvel said it will continue to provide complete nuclear fuel supplies, including the purchase of enriched uranium for fuel manufacturing. The fuel will be produced at the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant in Novosibirsk Oblast, southwestern Siberia.Since late 2016, Kozloduy-6 has been supplied with TVSA-12 new generation fuel, allowing Bulgaria in 2017 to start pilot operations of the unit at increased thermal capacity of 104%. From April 2018, the unit has been officially operated at increased capacity, which has had “a direct positive impact on the plant’s economic efficiency and performance”, Tvel said.
