30 May (NucNet): Containment pressure testing at China’s Changjiang-1 and primary system cold hydraulic testing at Fangjiashan-2 have been successfully completed, the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said.

The containment pressure test at Changjiang-1 verified the quality of construction of the containment building and ensured that it is leak-tight.

Changjiang-1 is one of two 610-megawatt CNP-600 Chinese-designed pressurised water reactor units (PWRs) being built in Hainan province, southern China.

The primary system cold hydraulic test at Fangjiashan-2 ensured the integrity of the system to operate under pressure with cold water. Upcoming pre-commissioning steps include functional tests with hot water and fuel loading.

The Fangjiashan site, in Zhejiang province, eastern China, has two Chinese-designed CPR-1000 PWRs under construction. The site is next to the existing Qinshan nuclear power station.
