U3O8 Production 10 Times Higher In 2022, But Still Near Historic Lows
Producing U3O8 – often called yellowcake because of its powdered, yellow appearance – is one of the first steps in making fuel for nuclear reactors.
Uranium concentrate (U3O8) production in the US was nearly 10 times higher than 2021 in 2022, partly as a result of higher uranium prices, but remained near historic lows despite operations resuming at the White Mesa Mill in Utah, the country’s only operating conventional uranium mill.
