The US and Russia have announced plans to move approximately 70 kilogrammes of highly enriched uranium (HEU) from a research reactor in Uzbekistan, due to ‘insufficiently guarded borders’ with neighbouring states Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
