NRC announced public hearing opportunity
The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said it has received notice from Southern Nuclear announcing the company’s plans to load nuclear fuel into Unit 3 of the Vogtle nuclear power plant being built in Georgia.The notice said the start of fuel loading for the Westinghouse AP1000 pressurised water reactor unit is scheduled for 23 November 2020.The NRC said Southern Nuclear also submitted notifications describing the completion of inspections and other actions required before the beginning of the loading operation.
