13 Dec (NucNet): There are no gaps in any area that could threaten the safe operation of the Kozloduy nuclear power station in Bulgaria, a World Association of Nuclear Operators (Wano) peer review has concluded.
The inspection began on 22 November 2013 and concluded on 6 December 2013. Wano said it included a review of the key areas for the operation of a nuclear power plant, including organisation and administration, operation, repair, radiation protection, emergency planning and education and training.
The Wano team carried out observation inspections of the state of the equipment of Kozloduy’s two operational units and conducted interviews with the staff of the power plant.
“The final conclusion of the team is that there are no gaps in any area that could threaten safe operation. The staff is highly motivated to maintain a high level of safety,” said Janos Toth, head of the Wano team and deputy director of safety at Paks nuclear plant in Hungary.
