25 Sep (NucNet): Westinghouse Electric Company today announced it has reached an agreement to acquire Astare, a French nuclear engineering company with headquarters near Paris.

Terms were not disclosed, but Westinghouse said in a statement it expects to finalise the deal by 11 October 2007.

Westinghouse said the acquisition of Astare, which also has offices in Marseille and Lyon, expands its capabilities to serve the worldwide nuclear power industry. The acquisition will better enable Westinghouse to provide engineering support and project management services in the very important French market, the statement said.

The announcement comes just two months after Westinghouse said it would acquire IST Nuclear, a leading provider of nuclear services and systems in South Africa.
