9 Aug (NucNet): Alstom’s Hungary has been awarded a 5.1 million euros (6.7 billion US dollars) contract to retrofit generators at Paks nuclear power plant in central Hungary, the company said.

Alstom Hungary will service the eight operational generators across four nuclear reactor blocks and one spare generator. The aim is to improve operational reliability.

Under the terms of the contract, one generator will be serviced every year, starting in 2013 and lasting until 2021.

The works will be carried out in Alstom’s generator services in Budapest, which have been involved in similar operations for Hungarian thermal power plants.
