South Africa’s only existing commercial nuclear station is the two-unit Koeberg near Cape Town.
Small modular reactors could be located on the sites where South Africa is decommissioning coal plants as a way of taking advantage of existing infrastructure, the Nuclear Industry Association of South Africa has said.
