DOE Offers $16 Million For Communities Interested In Hosting Spent Nuclear Fuel
In 2010 the Obama administration deemed the Yucca Mountain project an ‘unworkable solution’ and suspended activities.
The US Department of Energy said it will offer $16m (€16.2m) in funding to provide resources in up to eight communities that want to learn about interim and consent-based siting of spent nuclear fuel.
