11 Apr (NucNet): Unit 4 at China’s Qinshan Phase II nuclear power plant has begun commercial operation, operator China National Nuclear Corporation has said.
CNSC said on its website yesterday that the 610-megawatt CNP-600 pressurised water reactor unit, officially known as Qinshan 2-4, had begun commercial operation 60 days ahead of schedule.
The Qinshan nuclear plant, on China east coast in Zhejiang province, has a total of seven reactor units.
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, China has 16 reactors in commercial operation and 26 under construction. The government is planning to build at least three more units at the Qinshan site.
